Signs you need this repair

Sound familiar? The diagnosis is always free.

  • Cracked or shattered front glass
  • A green, pink or white line running across the display
  • Black screen, but the phone still rings or vibrates
  • Touch not responding in one area, or the phone tapping by itself
  • Dark blotches or ink-like spots spreading from a crack
  • Fingerprint sensor stopped reading through the screen

Glass, display or both: what’s actually broken?

On every current Galaxy and Pixel, the front glass, the touch layer and the OLED panel are bonded into one assembly. That’s why a crack that only looks like a glass problem is still fixed by replacing the whole screen. Separating and re-laminating glass on these panels isn’t reliable enough to put a warranty behind.

A crack with a perfect picture underneath can wait a little while if you protect it, but it rarely stays that way. Cracks let in moisture and dust, touch starts failing near the damage, and OLED panels often develop black spots that bleed outward over days. Once you see ink spots or flicker, the panel itself is failing.

A single green or pink line with no visible crack is also a display fault, not a software bug. Samsung panels in particular can develop lines after a knock or pressure in a pocket. A restart or update won’t clear it, and the line usually spreads or multiplies over time.

OLED vs. budget screens for Galaxy and Pixel

You’ll usually have two choices of part, and we explain both before any work starts.

  • OLED screens match the original look: deep blacks, accurate color, the same thinness and brightness, always-on display, and full support for the under-display fingerprint sensor. This is what we recommend for Galaxy S, Note and Pixel flagships.
  • Budget screens (often LCD-based) cost less, but they’re usually thicker, dimmer and less color-accurate, and they can use more battery. On many Galaxy S models the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor can’t read through them, so you’d unlock with your PIN or face instead.

A budget screen can make sense on an older Galaxy A phone, or a phone you plan to sell or hand down soon. On a phone you plan to keep and use every day, the OLED part is usually worth the difference.

How much does a Galaxy screen repair cost?

Screen repairs start from $99. The final price depends on a few things:

  • Model and size. Ultra and Plus models, curved-edge screens and newer releases cost more than a Galaxy A or an older Pixel.
  • Part grade. OLED versus budget, as above.
  • Whether the screen comes with the frame. On many Galaxy models the replacement screen is supplied already bonded to the metal mid-frame, because separating the two without damage is difficult. That makes the part pricier but gives you a straighter, cleaner result.
  • Foldables. Fold and Flip screens are priced separately (see below).

Pick your model on the booking page to see your price, or check pricing. If we find anything else on the free diagnosis, we tell you and confirm the price before we touch the phone.

Galaxy Z Fold, Z Flip and Pixel Fold inner screens

Folding phones have two screens. The outer cover screen is repaired much like a regular phone screen. The inner folding screen is a flexible OLED with a factory-applied protective layer on top. Don’t peel that layer off, even if it starts lifting at the edges; it’s part of the screen, and removing it can damage the panel.

Common inner-screen faults are a line or dead area along the fold, a bubble in the top layer, or a black screen after the phone was closed on something. Hinge wear can play a part, so we inspect the hinge during the free diagnosis and confirm the exact price before any work.

How the repair works

We start by confirming the screen is the problem. A phone with a black screen can also have a board or connector fault, and we don’t want you paying for a part that won’t fix it. Then the phone is heated to soften the adhesive, opened carefully, and the old screen removed. The frame is cleaned of old glue and glass before the new screen goes in with fresh adhesive.

Afterward we test touch across the whole panel, brightness, the proximity sensor, the front camera, the earpiece and the fingerprint sensor. You’ll need to register your fingerprints again, because the sensor is reading through new glass.

Partner stores can often do a screen the same day. Mail-in is typically 7–10 days door to door.

What to do before you send it

  • Back up to your Google account or Samsung account if you can still use the phone. If touch is dead but the picture works, a USB-C mouse or a mouse with a USB-C adapter will let you navigate.
  • Take off the case and any screen protector, and remove your SIM card and any memory card.
  • Leave your Google account signed in; we don’t reset phones. We may ask for your screen passcode only to test the repair. Never share your Google password.

Questions

Will my in-display fingerprint sensor work after the repair?

With an OLED replacement screen, yes. You’ll re-register your fingerprints afterward. Budget screens often block the ultrasonic sensor used on Galaxy S models, which is one reason we recommend OLED for those phones.

Why is a Samsung screen often sold with the frame?

Samsung screens are bonded very tightly to the metal frame. Removing the old panel alone risks bending the frame or damaging the new screen, so many replacement screens come pre-fitted to a new frame. It costs more but fits better.

Is it safe to keep using a phone with a cracked screen?

For a short time, with a screen protector or clear tape over the crack. Watch for glass splinters, touch problems and spreading black spots. If any of those show up, book the repair before the damage gets worse.

My screen has a green line but no cracks. Will a software update fix it?

Almost never. A line that stays in the same place on every screen, including the boot logo, is a hardware fault in the display. The fix is a new screen, and the diagnosis is free.
