Signs you need this repair
Sound familiar? The diagnosis is always free.
- The phone went into water, a drink or the ocean
- A moisture detected warning that won’t clear
- Fogging or water marks under the screen or camera lenses
- Speakers sound muffled or crackly
- Battery drains fast or the phone gets warm while idle
- It worked after getting wet, then died days later
- The SIM card isn’t detected after the phone got wet
What to do right after your phone gets wet
- Get it out of the liquid and turn it off. Don’t keep using it to see if it works.
- Don’t plug it in or put it on a wireless charger. Power plus moisture is what causes shorts and corrosion.
- Take off the case and pull out the SIM tray.
- Wipe the outside dry and gently shake it with the ports facing down.
- Leave it somewhere dry with good airflow, then book a free diagnosis.
Skip the rice. It doesn’t pull water out from inside the phone, and rice dust can get into the ports. Don’t use a hair dryer, oven or heater either. Heat can damage the battery and the adhesive that seals the phone.
If your Galaxy shows a moisture warning when you plug it in, that’s the phone protecting itself. Unplug it and let the port dry. Don’t try to charge through it.
Water resistant isn’t waterproof
Most Galaxy and Pixel flagships carry an IP68 rating. That rating comes from tests in fresh, still water under lab conditions. In real life the seals get weaker. Adhesive ages, drops create gaps, and any repair that opens the phone changes the seal. Salt water, chlorinated pool water and sugary drinks are much worse than tap water because of what they leave behind when they dry.
So a phone that survived a dunk last year might not survive the same thing today. If your phone takes on water, treat it as damaged even if it has a water-resistance rating. Speaker grilles can also hold water for a while, which is why sound is often muffled at first.
Why wet phones often die days later
Water itself is rarely what kills a phone. Minerals, salt and sugar are the problem. When liquid gets inside, those deposits stay on the board after the water evaporates and start to corrode the tiny components and connections. Corrosion keeps spreading as long as there’s moisture and power. That’s why a phone can seem fine for a few days and then start draining, overheating, or refusing to turn on.
The sooner the board is opened and cleaned, the more of it can be saved. Don’t wait to see if it gets worse.
How we repair a water-damaged Android phone
We open the phone and disconnect the battery first, so nothing stays powered. Then we inspect the board under a microscope for corrosion and residue. The board is cleaned, typically in an ultrasonic bath with a cleaning solution, and dried properly. After that, we test it.
Liquid damage often takes out individual parts along the way: the screen, the charging port, a speaker or a camera. If something on the board has failed, we replace it at the component level. You get a clear list of what’s damaged and a price for each repair before any work. You choose what to fix.
What we test after cleaning
A phone that turns on after cleaning isn’t finished yet. We test the screen and touch, wired and wireless charging, speakers and microphones, every camera, the SIM reader, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, buttons, sensors and the fingerprint reader. Liquid can also weaken the battery, so we check its health. If it’s been affected, we recommend a new one rather than letting it fail later.
How much does water damage repair cost?
Every liquid-damaged phone is different, so the diagnosis is free and the price is confirmed once we’ve seen the inside. A quick clean with no failed parts costs much less than a phone that needs a board repair and a new screen. If the repair isn’t worth it for your phone, we tell you. Tell us what the liquid was and roughly when it happened; both help the diagnosis. If your main concern is photos and contacts, see Android data recovery.

Questions
My phone got wet a week ago and still works. Should I get it checked?
Yes, if it was more than a light splash. Corrosion can build quietly for days or weeks. A cleaning now costs much less than a board repair later, and it protects your data.
Does salt water or pool water make a difference?
Yes. Salt and chlorine are far more corrosive than fresh water, and sugary drinks leave sticky residue. Rinse nothing, power nothing, and get it to us quickly. Let us know what liquid it was when you book.
What if the phone can’t be fixed?
No fix, no fee: you don’t pay for a repair we can’t complete. If the phone is past saving, we can talk through getting your data off it first.
Is water damage covered by my phone’s warranty?
Standard manufacturer warranties usually exclude liquid damage, even on water-resistant phones. Some carrier insurance or protection plans do cover it, so check your plan. Our repair is a separate option either way.
Can I mail in a water-damaged phone?
Yes. Turn it off, don’t charge it, and pack it as soon as you can after booking. If the battery is visibly swollen, contact us before shipping, or use a nearby partner store.
