Samsung Galaxy back glass repair, with wireless charging checked.
A shattered back looks bad and sheds glass, but it’s usually one of the simpler Android repairs. We replace the back panel, clean out every shard and test wireless charging before your phone goes back.

Sound familiar? The diagnosis is always free.
- Cracked or shattered glass on the back of the phone
- Sharp edges or glass flaking off around the camera
- The back panel lifting away from the frame
- Wireless charging that cuts out or stopped working after a drop
- Cracks in the glass covering the camera lenses
- The back feels rough or catches on fabric
Why fix cracked back glass?
A cracked back still lets the phone work, so it’s tempting to leave it. The cracks still cause trouble over time. Small shards come loose and scratch your hands and pockets. Moisture and dust get in past the broken seal. The wireless charging coil sits right under the back, so a badly broken panel can affect charging. Broken glass also lowers what you get when you sell or trade in the phone. Even in a case, loose glass keeps working its way out around the edges.
If the cracks reach the camera area, check your photos. Lens covers that are cracked or hazy cause flare and soft spots in pictures. Sometimes those covers are part of the back panel and sometimes they’re separate, depending on the model.
How Galaxy back glass replacement works
Samsung Galaxy S, Note and Z series phones have a glass back that’s glued to the frame, not fused to it. That makes back glass replacement much more straightforward than on many other phones. We heat the panel to soften the adhesive and lift it off in one piece or in sections. Then we clean every bit of old glue and glass from the frame.
The new panel goes on with fresh adhesive and is pressed evenly so it sits flush. Before it’s sealed we check the wireless charging coil, NFC antenna and flash for damage, because a hard drop sometimes hurts those as well.
Pixel, Motorola and Galaxy A backs
- Galaxy A series: many models have a plastic or frosted composite back rather than glass. It cracks less, and a replacement usually costs less.
- Google Pixel: glass backs are glued much like Samsung’s. On several models the glass over the camera bar is a separate piece and can be replaced on its own.
- Motorola and OnePlus: backs vary from glass to plastic to textured finishes. We confirm what your model uses and whether a matching part is available.
How much does back glass repair cost, and how long does it take?
Back glass repairs start from $89. The price goes up for larger and newer models, for panels that include the camera lens covers, and for colors that are harder to source. If the frame is bent from the drop, a new back won’t sit flat. In that case the right fix may be a new housing, and we confirm that price before any work. See your model’s price on the booking page.
As for time, the old glass comes off quickly. Cleaning out the old adhesive and every shard properly is what takes time, and the new adhesive needs to set under pressure before the phone is handled. Partner stores can often finish it the same day. Mail-in is typically 7–10 days door to door. If you also need a screen or battery, it’s efficient to do them in the same visit, since the phone is already open.
Wireless charging, NFC and PowerShare after the repair
After the new back is on, we test wireless charging on a pad, NFC for tap-to-pay, the flash, and every rear camera for haze or dust under the lens covers. On Galaxy phones that support it, we also check Wireless PowerShare, which lets the phone charge earbuds or a watch from its back.
If anything else was damaged in the drop, such as the screen, a camera or the frame, we tell you during the free diagnosis. You decide what to fix. Related: Galaxy and Pixel screen repair and camera and lens repair.
Before you book
- Put clear packing tape over the broken glass so shards stay put in shipping and in your pocket.
- Remove the case, any stick-on magnetic ring or grip, the SIM and any memory card.
- Back up your phone. Back glass repair doesn’t touch your data, but a backup is always smart before any repair.
- Note whether wireless charging still worked after the drop, so we know what to expect when we test it.
- Leave your Google account signed in. We may ask for your screen passcode only to test the repair.

Questions
Will the new back glass be the same color?
We match your model and color wherever the part is available. Some colors, especially limited editions, can be hard to find. If yours isn’t in stock, we tell you the options before ordering.
Can you fix the back glass if the frame is bent?
A bent frame stops the new glass from sealing flat, and the glass may crack again. We check the frame first. If it’s bent, we quote a housing replacement instead, and you decide.
Do you replace the camera lens covers too?
If they’re cracked, yes. On models where the lens covers are built into the back panel, they’re replaced with it. Where they’re separate pieces, we replace the damaged ones and check the lenses underneath for scratches and dust.
Will my case still fit after the repair?
Yes. The replacement panel has the same shape and thickness as the original, so cases and screen protectors fit as before.
Is it safe to cover cracked back glass with tape for now?
Yes. Clear tape or a case is a good short-term fix. It keeps shards in place and protects your hands until the repair.
