Who we are
iPhoneRepair.me is a US repair directory and booking site. It helps you find independent repair stores near you, book a repair or ask for a quote, mail a device in to our own repair shop, Charlotte Tech Repair, or sell a device for cash.
iPhoneRepair.me and Charlotte Tech Repair are run by the same business. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean that business. This policy explains what information we collect on iPhoneRepair.me, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information you give us
When you book a repair, request a quote, start a mail-in repair or sell a device, our forms ask for some or all of the following:
- Your name, phone number and email address
- Your ZIP code, so we can find stores near you
- Your device and model, and the repair you need
- Anything you write in the message box
- The price shown to you on the site at the time
- An appointment time, if you pick one when booking
- A postal return address, for mail-in repairs and devices you sell to us
- For devices you sell to us: the device's condition and storage, and how you'd like to be paid (Zelle, PayPal or check)
Each request gets a reference number. You can check your repair status on the site with that reference number and the phone number you gave us, so please keep your reference number to yourself.
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
Information about partner stores
Repair stores that list with us give us their business name, contact details, address, opening hours, the devices they fix and their prices, and links to their Google listing. They can also upload a logo and storefront photos.
Most of this business information is shown publicly on the store's page and in search results on iPhoneRepair.me, because that's the point of a listing.
Partner store staff sign in with a one-time code sent to their email address. We keep the email addresses allowed to sign in for each store.
Information collected automatically
Like any website, iPhoneRepair.me is delivered over the internet, so our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical details such as your IP address and browser type in order to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a real person, not a bot, is sending them. Turnstile looks at signals from your browser to make that check.
We measure visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies and doesn't track you across other websites. It gives us totals such as page views, not a profile of you.
When a page shows a map, your browser loads map images from OpenFreeMap, which receives your IP address like any web server would.
How we use your information
Every request is saved and reviewed by our team first. We then send it to the partner store that matches your request, or handle it ourselves at Charlotte Tech Repair if you chose mail-in or are selling a device.
We use your information to:
- Arrange your repair, quote, mail-in shipment or device sale, and return your device to you
- Contact you about your request and answer your questions
- Show you the status of your repair when you look it up
- Send the emails and texts described below
- Keep the site working, secure and free of spam and fraud
- Keep the business records we need, and meet our legal obligations
We use partner store information to publish their listings, show their location on the map, send them customer requests, and manage their account and any paid plan.
Who we share it with
The repair store handling your request. When we send your request to a partner store, that store receives your contact details and repair details so it can contact you and do the repair. Partner stores are separate, independent businesses. Once a store has your information, its own privacy practices also apply to how it uses it.
Service providers that run the site for us. They handle information only to provide their service to us:
- Cloudflare: website hosting, our database, sending and forwarding email, bot protection (Turnstile) and cookieless analytics (Web Analytics)
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim: turning partner store addresses into map locations. We send it store addresses, not customer details.
- OpenFreeMap: the map images shown on the site
- Stripe: billing for partner stores that choose a paid plan. Card details are entered with Stripe and we don't store full card numbers.
- Our payment processor, when you pay us for a mail-in repair through a secure payment link. We don't see or store your full card number.
- Quo (OpenPhone): sending text messages about your repair, if you agreed to texts, and receiving your replies
- Shippo and the shipping carrier (such as USPS): creating mail-in shipping labels and tracking, using the names, addresses and phone numbers needed for delivery
When the law requires it. We may share information if we must to comply with the law or a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our customers, partners or ourselves.
If the business changes hands. If iPhoneRepair.me or Charlotte Tech Repair is sold or merged, customer and partner records may transfer to the new owner, who must continue to protect them as this policy describes.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with advertisers.
Emails and text messages
We send emails about your request, such as a confirmation when you submit it and a message when your repair is ready. If a store hasn't responded to your request within a couple of hours, we may email or text you once with other options. After a completed repair, we may send you one email asking for a review. We don't send marketing emails.
If you agree to texts when you book, we may text you about that repair: a confirmation, a reminder if a store hasn't replied, your shipping label and when it's ready. The store handling your repair may also text you. We don't send marketing texts.
To stop review requests or text messages, email help@iphonerepair.me, or reply STOP to a text. Some messages about a repair that's in progress, like letting you know it's ready, may still be needed to get your device back to you.
Cookies and local storage
We don't use advertising cookies. The only cookie we set is a sign-in session cookie for partner store staff and our own team, so they stay signed in to their account. Customers don't need an account, so most visitors never get it.
If you change the site's light or dark theme, your browser may remember that choice in its local storage. It stays on your device and isn't sent to us.
Links to other sites
Store pages link to Google Maps for directions, and may link to a store's Google listing or website. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and what they collect when you visit them is up to them.
How long we keep it
We keep repair, quote and sale records for as long as we need them to provide the service, handle warranty questions and keep normal business and tax records. After that, we delete them.
We keep partner store information while the store is listed. If a store leaves, we remove its listing and delete its information, except billing and business records we need to keep.
If you ask us to delete your information sooner, we will, unless we need to keep part of it for a legal reason or an open repair. If so, we'll tell you.
How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to protect your information. The site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), access to customer requests is limited to our team and the store handling the request, and partner sign-in uses one-time codes instead of passwords.
No website or system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise that information will never be accessed without permission. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we'll let you know as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we have about you and give you a copy
- Correct information that's wrong
- Delete your information
- Stop sending you review requests or text messages
Email help@iphonerepair.me from the address you used, or include your reference number and phone number, so we can confirm the request is really from you. We'll reply within 45 days, and usually much sooner. We won't treat you differently for asking.
If we can't do what you asked, we'll explain why. You can reply to ask us to reconsider.
If your request has already been sent to a partner store, we'll pass your deletion request on to them. You can also contact the store directly.
State privacy rights, including California
Residents of California and other states with consumer privacy laws, such as Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others, have the rights listed above to know about, access, correct and delete their personal information, and not to be discriminated against for using those rights. You can use them by emailing help@iphonerepair.me. An authorized agent can make a request for you if we can confirm they have your permission.
We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising (ads based on your activity across other websites). We haven't done so in the past 12 months. We don't use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would give you a right to limit it.
The categories of information we collect are described in the sections above: contact details, ZIP code and return address, device and repair details, messages, and the technical details our hosting and bot protection need. We collect them from you, use them for the purposes listed above, and share them only with the store handling your request and the service providers listed above.
Children
iPhoneRepair.me is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us information, email help@iphonerepair.me and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll make it clear on the site before it takes effect.
