Signs you need this repair
Sound familiar? The diagnosis is always free.
- Cracked or shattered screen glass
- A black screen while sound still plays
- Lines, dead pixels or discolored patches
- Touch doesn’t respond, or the screen taps by itself
- Bright patches, dim areas or uneven backlight
- The screen is lifting or bulging away from the body
- The picture works on the TV but not on the handheld screen
Glass, touch layer or display: what’s actually broken?
A handheld screen has layers. On top is the cover glass with the touch sensor, and under it is the display panel that makes the picture. Which layer is damaged decides the repair and the price.
A quick test helps. If you have an original Switch or Switch OLED, put it in the dock. If the TV shows a normal picture but the handheld screen is black, the display or its connection is the likely fault. If the TV is blank too, the problem is probably on the board, and our won’t turn on diagnosis is the better place to start.
If the screen is lifting or bulging, the battery underneath may be swelling. Stop charging it, keep it somewhere cool and mention it when you book.
Switch, Switch OLED, Switch Lite and Steam Deck notes
- Original Switch. The touch glass and the LCD are separate parts. If the picture is perfect and only the glass is cracked, we can often replace the glass and touch layer alone, which costs less.
- Switch OLED. The OLED panel and touch layer form one bonded assembly, so cracked glass usually means a full display replacement. OLED screens can also show burn-in from static images over long periods, which only a new panel fixes.
- Switch Lite. The controls are built in, so the whole console opens up for a screen repair. We confirm during diagnosis whether the glass, the display or both need replacing.
- Switch 2. We check part availability for your console during the free diagnosis before quoting.
- Steam Deck and Steam Deck OLED. The glass and display are bonded together, so we replace the full display assembly. It takes a careful teardown, since the screen is glued to the front.
- ROG Ally, Legion Go and other handheld PCs. Book a free check and we’ll confirm options for your model.
Part options and what they mean
Replacement screens vary. Some match the original very closely; cheaper ones can be dimmer, show colors differently or feel less responsive to touch. We explain the part grade before we start, and we don’t fit a lower-grade part without telling you.
On OLED models in particular, ask us about the difference. An OLED panel is what gives those screens their deep blacks, so it’s worth knowing what you’re getting.
The repair itself is careful work. Handheld screens are held in with adhesive and thin cables, so we warm the adhesive, lift the old screen without bending the frame and clean the surface before fitting the new part with fresh adhesive. Then we check the picture, touch, brightness and auto-brightness sensor where the model has one, plus docked output on models that support it.
How much does a Switch screen repair cost?
Switch and handheld screen repair starts from $89. The price depends on:
- Glass and touch only, or a full display
- Your model: OLED panels and Steam Deck displays cost more
- Frame damage or a bent Joy-Con rail from the same drop
- Other problems, such as a swollen battery or a damaged screen cable
We confirm the exact price after the free diagnosis, before any work. Most screen repairs fit within the usual console turnaround once the part is in hand. If your model’s part has to be ordered, we tell you the expected wait when we quote.
Before you send it
Your Switch saves live on the console’s own memory, not the microSD card or the game card. A screen repair doesn’t touch that memory, but if you have Nintendo Switch Online, it’s still worth checking your cloud saves are up to date first. Not every game supports cloud saves.
- Remove the microSD card and any game card.
- Slide off the Joy-Con unless they’re part of the problem.
- Put clear tape over badly cracked glass so loose pieces stay in place.
- You don’t need to sign out of your Nintendo Account or Steam account, and we won’t ask for those passwords.

Questions
My screen protector is cracked. Is the screen cracked too?
Not always. Peel the protector off gently. If the glass underneath is smooth and the picture and touch work normally, a new protector is all you need.
Can you fix burn-in on a Switch OLED?
Burn-in is permanent wear in the panel itself, so the only fix is a new display. If it’s faint, you may decide to live with it, and we’ll tell you honestly how noticeable it is.
Is it worth repairing a Switch Lite screen?
Usually, yes. A screen repair costs well under the price of a new Lite, and the rest of the console is unaffected.
Can I keep using a Switch with cracked glass?
If the picture and touch still work, you can, but cover the cracks with clear tape so glass chips don’t cut your fingers or fall into the console. Cracks also tend to spread, and pressure on a cracked screen can damage the display underneath.
Do you also fix a bent Joy-Con rail?
Yes. If a drop bent the rail, Joy-Con can slide loose or stop connecting. We can replace the rail at the same time and include it in your quote.
