How much does an iPhone battery replacement cost?

What a new battery costs, what changes the price, and when it's worth doing.

Quick answer

Our iPhone battery replacements start at $49.99. The price depends on your model and the battery you choose. For most people it's the best-value repair there is: a new battery can make an older iPhone feel new again for a fraction of the cost of a replacement phone.

What changes the price

  • Your model. Batteries differ in size and design between models, and some phones take longer to open and reseal.
  • The battery itself. Quality cells cost more than bargain ones and last longer. Ask what you're getting.
  • Labor. The old battery is held in with strong adhesive and has to come out safely, especially if it's swollen. The phone then needs a fresh seal.
  • Extra faults. If the real problem is the charging port or the board, a battery won't fix it. That's why we test first.

How to tell if you actually need one

Open Settings → Battery → Battery Health. A maximum capacity below about 80%, or a Service message, means the battery is worn. Other signs:

  • The phone dies by early afternoon or shuts off at 20–40%.
  • It gets hot while charging or drains quickly when idle.
  • It feels slow, especially when the battery is low.
  • The screen is lifting away from the frame, which can mean a swollen battery.

Our battery health guide explains what the numbers mean.

How long a new battery should last

Apple designs batteries in iPhone 14 and earlier to keep 80% of their original capacity after 500 full charge cycles, and iPhone 15 and later after 1,000. A good replacement battery, looked after well, should give you years of normal use. Heat is the main thing that shortens battery life.

When it's worth it

A battery replacement is almost always worth it if your iPhone still gets iOS updates and everything else works. It's one of the cheapest repairs, it's quick, and it often fixes slowdowns as well as battery life.

It's less worth it if the phone has several other faults, or no longer gets updates. Our guide to repair or replace can help you decide.

Parts messages

Depending on your model and the battery used, iOS may show a parts message in Settings, and on some models the battery health percentage may not display. It doesn't affect how the battery works. We'll explain your options before any work starts. See what Unknown Part messages mean.

What a proper battery replacement includes

A battery swap sounds simple, but how it's done affects how long the phone lasts afterwards. A good battery replacement should include:

  • A check of battery health and the charging port first, so you don't pay for the wrong fix.
  • Safe removal of the old battery without bending it or damaging nearby cables. Swollen batteries need extra care.
  • A quality new cell, not a refurbished or long-stored one.
  • Fresh adhesive and a new seal to help keep dust and moisture out.
  • A test of charging, drain and power behavior before the phone goes back to you.

Ask about the warranty, too. Ours covers parts and labor for 90 days. If a price is far lower than everyone else's, ask which battery is being used and whether the phone will be resealed.

Getting it done

At a store, a battery swap usually takes under an hour. By mail, it's usually 7–10 days door to door, with free insured shipping both ways. See your price or read more about our battery replacement service.

Frequently asked questions

How much is an iPhone battery replacement?

Ours start at $49.99. The exact price depends on your model and the battery, and you'll see it before any work starts.

Will a new battery fix my slow iPhone?

Often, yes. iOS can limit performance on a worn battery to prevent unexpected shutdowns, and a new battery removes that limit.

Is it safe to keep using a swollen battery?

No. Stop charging it and get it replaced. A swollen battery can push the screen out and damage the phone.
